Where is my mind? youtu.be/5iC0YXspJRM Todays Octoberween is centered on Fortune Tellers, Precognition, Telekinetics, Pyromaniacs, Gypsies and talking to the dead.
First
up on the chopping block is The Clairvoyant (or Evil Mind) from 1935
starring Claude Rains, Mary Clare and Fay Wray. Maximus, a small-time
music hall mind reader, has frightening flashes of precognition; but he
cannot predict or control them ...until he realizes he has them in the
presence of Christine, attractive daughter of a publisher, who makes
Rene, his equally lovely wife, wretchedly jealous. But worse trouble
comes to Maximus when he's accused of causing a disaster he predicted. youtu.be/WVl-qabf7Xs

Night
has a thousand eyes in 1948 starring Gail Russell and Ed Robinson When
heiress Jean Courtland attempts suicide, her fiancée Elliott Carson
probes her relationship to John Triton. In flashback, we see how stage
mentalist Triton starts having terrifying flashes of true precognition.
His partner, Whitney Courtland, uses Triton's talent to make money; but
Triton's inability to prevent what he foresees, causes him to break up
the act and become a hermit. Years later, Triton has new visions and
desperately tries to prevent tragedies in the Courtland family. Can his
warnings succeed against suspicion, unbelief, and inexorable fate? youtu.be/RH3bzUF862k

Don't
look now in 1973 starring Donald Sutherland about a married couple
grieving the recent death of their little daughter are in Venice when
they encounter two elderly sisters, one of whom is psychic and brings a
warning from beyond. youtu.be/AUWB-Kw4FiM

From
Hell starring Johnny Depp may be about Jack the Ripper but it also has
the only bona fide psychic detective on our list, Inspector Abberline
uses his extra-sensory powers of perception to find the murderer.
Unfortunately, the murders of Jack the Ripper are not cases that can be
solved by mental manipulation alone; in what sounds suspiciously like a
flagrant abuse of the police expenses form, Fred recruits the help of a
local prostitute and smokes a copious amount of opium to help catch his
man. He may not be conventional, but he gets results, dammit! Get this
man all the hookers and drugs he needs! youtu.be/yw8US3gS37w

White noise starring Michael Keaton, An architect's desire to speak
with his wife from beyond the grave, becomes an obsession with
supernatural repercussions. youtu.be/haHHr5_VX7I
Faye
Dunaway stars in this 1978 chiller as a successful, controversial
fashion photographer haunted by psychic visions of a serial killer.
Cursed with the ability to see the murders through the killer's point of
view, Mars sees her associates murdered one by one. With the help of a
tough police detective (Tommy Lee Jones), Mars must stop the killer
before she becomes his next target. Written by John Carpenter

The
Final Destination movies! Each entry in the 'Final Destination'
franchise finds a teen experiencing a psychic premonition about their
impending doom, allowing them to cheat death and then suffer the
consequences as the Grim Reaper moves in to pick off those destined to
meet their maker. Imagine if death was a bastard with a real hard on for
rubegoldberg machines. youtu.be/8tqJTjpeiZc

I
highly recommend our next movie Nicole Kidman shines as a woman living
in the dark in this creepy 2001 movie. Set in England in the days
following World War II, Kidman plays Grace, a woman looking closely
after her two children stricken with a disease that forbids them to be
exposed to sunlight. Living out their dark days by strict rules in a
country mansion with heavy curtains, Grace and the children's ordered
life is upset by the arrival of three mysterious servants. At first
thinking intruders have entered the house, Grace begins to wonder if the
supernatural is playing against her sanity. We won't spoil the ending. youtu.be/Vu494-Dr5po
in
our next movie, Stir of Echoes Kevin Bacon plays Tom Witzky, a
working-class Chicago family man who doesn't believe in all that psychic
hocus pocus -- that is until, on a dare, he agrees to be hypnotized at a
party by his wife's sister (Illeana Douglas) and begins to see flashes
of violence and the spirit of a girl who disappeared from the
neighborhood months ago. I actually first watched this during a
Bacon-a-thon thats right BLTs and all the Kevin Bacon films you can
stand! youtu.be/OlqHp4KmofQ
I
actually really really really really really like Bruce Willis, I don't
know exactly why but ever since I first saw Die Hard I make a b-line for
Bruce Willis movies; and I can not talk about psychics without
discussing the movie Sixth Sense about a boy who communicates with
spirits that don't know they're dead seeks the help of a disheartened
child psychologist played by Bruce Willis. youtu.be/ZSNyiSetZ8Y
tldr? Bruce Willis's character is dead and bloated! youtu.be/OibNcmZcF3k
Now
for our lady of the day, who is one of my favorite actresses, and
someone who I used to base my style off of back when my now dark hair
was a blond mass of ringlets seeing as we both have a love of flowers, a
ready laugh and have green eyes. This bubbly activist and mother is
more than just an actress, she is a part of a great acting dynasty. She
may be blond and sometimes portrayed as a little more than that but what
she brings to each movie even from her very first role in altered
states has been a naturalness in front of the cameras that very few
actors ever possess. She makes the characters she plays come alive, with
quirks and energy that even the writers knew nothing about. She, like
many other child stars did go to rehab but upon getting out she instead
lived with David Crosby and his wife for a year before winning a court
case allowing her emancipation from her parents. She has posed for
playboy, flashed David Letterman on live TV, was a model for Guess?
jeans she also runs her own production company named flower productions
with its goal of creation female empowered movies, she is one of the
richest women in Hollywood, has created several of her own charities
mostly aimed toward hunger relief and animal rescue, and in 2007 was
named a UN Ambassador against hunger for their World Food Program. Have
you guessed who she is yet? Drew Barrymore!
I
actually really hated ET, and I'm still nto very fond of the film,
however one of her early movies which I do love is her role in the 1984
psycho psychic classic Firestarter About a couple who participated in a
potent medical experiment gain telekinetic ability and then have a child
who is pyrokinetic. youtu.be/rIC1PTBiE_U
I love me some Prodigy so here it is The Prodigy Firestarter youtu.be/wmin5WkOuPw
Speaking
of starting fires and roasting people alive who probably deserve it
this leads my to my number 2 pick for todays Psychic psychos feature,
and it goes too....Carrie! This 1976 movie starring Sissy Spaceck is a
stark warning to any practising school
bullies: the next weedy little kid you pick on in the shower might just
grow up to be a raging psychopath. Sticks and stones may break their
bones, but supernatural telekinetic powers will always hurt you -
particularly if they're unleashed during puberty.
Moving
around household objects with the mind might sound like the behaviour
of a bored poltergeist, but combined with her teenage alienation and
years of bottled up rage, Carrie's psychic ability is a weapon deadlier
than any firearm - even from beyond the grave. youtu.be/rLexGF8KhWc
This
only leaves me with the 1983 awesome that was DEAD ZONE starring
Christopher Walken One of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel
ever, this chilling tale finds Christopher Walken as New England
schoolteacher Johnny Smith, who awakens from a
five-year coma after a car accident to learn that his fiancée has
remarried and has a child – and he has incredible psychic powers to see
the past, present and future. Initially reluctant to exploit his
newfound abilities, Johnny agrees to help when the police recruit him to
track a killer -- and he accidentally discovers a political candidate
is destined to push "the button" and ignite World War III. Martin Sheen,
Tom Skerritt and Brooke Adams also star in this gripping 1983 David
Cronenberg film. youtu.be/CuTeRM_8egk
