The
Mummy 1932 starring Boris Karloff and Zita Johann.Brought back to life
after nearly 3,700 years, Egyptian high priest Imhotep wreaks havoc upon
the members of the British field exposition that disturbed his tomb
(shades of the King Tut curse). While disguised as a contemporary
Egyptologist, he falls in love with Zita Johann, whom he recognizes as
the latest incarnation of a priestess who died nearly 40 centures
earlier. Spiriting Zita away to the tomb, he relates the story of how he
had dared to enter her ancestor's sacred burial crypt, hoping to
restore her to life. Caught in the act, he was embalmed alive and his
tongue was cut out for his act of sacrilege. Now that he has returned,
he intends to slay Zita, so that they will be reunited for all time in
the Hereafter. Despite its melodramatic trappings, The Mummy is
essentially a love story, poetically related by ace cinematographer and
first-time director Karl Freund. Jack Pierce's justly celebrated makeup
skills offers us two Karloffs: the wizened Egyptologist and the flaking,
rotting mummy, who though only seen for a few seconds remains in the
memory long after the film's final image has faded. Best line: "It went
for a little walk." youtu.be/Li-ssziD5VM
The
Mummys Hand 1942 the film is a less suspenseful reworking of the
deliberately slow-paced psychological thriller that served as the
framework for the original Mummy, opting instead for an over-the-top
action and adventure flick with bits of supernatural elements tossed in
to maintain a swift — and oftentimes erratic — pacing. At the forefront
of this action/adventure epic are archaeologist Steve Banning (Dick
Foran) and his partner, Babe Jenson (Wallace Ford), who seeks the tomb
of the Egyptian Princess Anaka. Funding for this expedition comes from
an unlikely source, a magician named The Great Solvani (Cecil Kellaway)
and his daughter and assistant, Marta (Peggy Moran). Unbeknownst to our
heroes, the tomb is being guarded by a high priest, Professor Andoheb
(George Zucco) and Kharis the Mummy, who is under the priest's
control.George Zucco's over-the-top performance as the high priest
Andoheb is one of the more suspenseful and chilling portrayls in the
film. Much akin to Karloff's performance as Im-ho-tep's alter-ego Ardeth
Bay in The Mummy, Zucco delivers his lines with same poignant pitch
that seems to feed chills directly into the audience. Zucco also manages
to raise a bit of suspense in the film with the touch of searing
tenacity that he brings to the role of a man in control over the film's
monster; much like the characters, the audience is never sure what
Andoheb is capable of, or when or where he'll unleash Kharis. Zucco's
performance allows the Andoheb character to thrive as a formidable
villain in not only this film, but in two of its sequels, The Mummy's
Tomb and The Mummy's Ghost as well.youtu.be/0xDi37_Eg6g

priestess. They are warned not to disturb the tomb but in doing so,
inadvertently bring to life the mummy of Kharis, the high priest who
loved the Princess. While in the tomb alone, something happens to
frighten the leader of the expedition, Stephen Banning. Three years
later an Egyptian, Mehemet Bey, transports the mummy to England to seek
revenge against those who desecrated the Princess' tomb. It is left to

The
curs of the Mummys Tomb 1964 starring Terence Morgan When British
archaeologists disturb the tomb of Ra, they have to deal with a curse
that condemns anyone involved to death. The American showman who paid
for the expedition, Alexander King, insists in taking the precious
artifacts to London for an exhibition even though he could have left
them for the local authorities who were prepared to pay a hefty price
for them. As a result they not only have to face the curse but the wrath
of Egyptians who have vowed have the precious find returned. When King
finally has his first public showing, he finds that the sarcophagus is
empty, the mummy having been taken or - more ominously - come to life to
seek revenge. youtu.be/6VEqHL85yjs

The

fun but I prefer the first one. youtu.be/h3ptPtxWJRs
However
my choice of the day purely based on two shallow reasons in Blood from
the Mummys tomb from 1971 starring Valerie Leon. On the night before her
anniversary, Margaret Fuchs receives an ancient Egyptian ring with a
red stone as a birthday gift from her
father, Prof. Julian Fuchs. Margaret has frequent nightmares about an
expedition in Egypt with five members, including her father, finding the
tomb of Queen Tera, an evil sorcerer with a severed hand. The members
collect the sarcophagus with a totally preserved mummy, the severed hand
with the ring with a red stone, and three relics. Margaret is possessed
by the spirit of Tera and chases the expedition members to retrieve the
objects and gives life back to Tera. youtu.be/GinUdr1lPKI
