Gesture and Contour

So this week was kind of nerve wracking for me, I am a pin up / comic / figure artist by choice so for this assignment I chose subjects that I need to work on and where interesting to me, namely hands and people. Because of this interest the gesture drawings where pretty simple, however I am used to working very slowly and methodically. I make several runs over a single figure making sure I like the position of the hand or correcting the body as I see fit. However the quickness that is required of doing gesture has never been a strong suit of mine, I have an essential tremor so my lines take much longer in order to be straight. I use my tremor to my advantage usually when doing shading or hair, but asking me to draw a quick straight line just doesn't happen. This was the hurdle I had to face when doing the contour drawing which took me twice the time as the gesture drawings did. At least with the gesture drawings I could use several small strokes and erase as needed, with my contour drawings you'll notice my lines are thicker and darker, this is my attempt at keeping control of the lines and my hand.
